The steps and hair-care products you need
As summer approaches, this is your opportunity to perfect beach hair at home. Contrary to what the name suggests, beach hair isn’t just the natural texture you get from a swim in the sea. Instead, it’s about creating effortless waves. To master this technique, you need 5 simple steps and the best hair-care products.
01. Air dry
Begin by applying a lightweight mousse to wet hair. Allow your hair to air-dry to get the best out of your natural texture. This is going to be the base of the beach waves technique.
02. Work in small sections
An essential step is dividing your hair into sections. We recommend using clips to section your hair horizontally from the bottom to the top of your head. Aim for about three or four sections.
03. Curl
Now it’s time to curl. Wrap the sections of hair you’ve already created around the barrel of your curling iron. Ensure to leave out the ends for a relaxed, natural wave. Continue the curling process throughout your hair, alternating the direction of each curl with every other strand. As you reach the front sections, curl the hair away from your face to highlight your features.
04. Set with hairspray
Don’t forget to lock in your beach waves with a hairspray. If you have fine or straight hair, apply a flexible-hold hairspray directly onto your waves. If you have naturally curly or wavy hair, spray a brush with the hairspray and gently brush out the curls.
05. Add more texture
Take a small amount of a texturizing product and distribute it evenly through your locks, scrunching as necessary. This final touch will give your hair an effortless vibe like you just swam.
